Incurved in rock in which the monks made cells for themselves, the monastery consists of 4 small altars. In the 14th century, a hermit lived in the monastery that was reused in the 17th century by two other hermits. In the 1990's, a restoration campaign of the monastery was funded by the local authorities.
Gibran Khalil Gibran Museum
Open in summer from 09.00 to 18.00 in summer, and 09.00 to 16.00 in winter. Entry fee is 3000 L.L; phone number: (06) 671137. The museum is the tomb of Gibran Khalil Gibran, it exhibits his paintings in chronological order, some of his original writings and letters, in addition to some of his belongings such as a bed, a table, etc.
Mar Sakis Monastery
The church is built in the location of a Roman tomb and dates back to the 7th century. According to local tradition, it was used by one of the disciples of Saint Sarkis. In the 15th century, it became the residence of the Pope’s envoy. Today's building dates back to the 17th century.
