Volunteers are the backbone of the LMT! They bring diverse talents, interests and skills to the development and maintenance of the trail.

For example, volunteers can help repair damaged trails, build new paths, install trail markers and interpretive signs, promote the LMT to interested groups, solicit sponsorships, and much more.

Individuals and community groups in the nearly 75 towns and villages along the LMT have shown great interest in this national mountain trail.

Active trekkers, scout groups, local clubs, schools, NGOs, and municipalities contribute their time and expertise to help identify, test walk, clear, and upgrade sections of the trail.
