The LMT suggests that you contact a local guide depending on the section of the trail that you would like to hike. The local guides listed below played a major role in introducing the LMT team to the old trails and footpaths in their respective villages. They are also very well acquainted with the LMT sections and have taken part in validation trips and test-walks conducted along the trail. Furthermore, these guides actively participated in the local guide training sessions that were provided by the LMT project in summer 2007. By choosing to walk with a local guide, not only will you have a more enjoyable experience on the trail, but you will also be creating job opportunities for local guides and helping them stay in their villages.
