Training of Local Guides – Ramlieh (6 to 8 July 2007) and Afqa (27 to 29 July 2007)
In collaboration with Lebanese Adventure and Responsible Mobilities, ECODIT organized two three-day training workshops for local guides on the Lebanon Mountain Trail. The trainings provided the participants with basic skills on how to plan and coordinate a trip on the LMT, how to lead a tour and how to interpret archeological, cultural and biodiversity information on the LMT. The trainings also provided the participants with useful information on safety of the group, hiking techniques and the use of maps. The training was successfully conducted by Serge Soueid and Andre Bechara of Lebanese Adventure, and Pascal Abdallah of Responsible Mobilities. A total of 53 future guides from the Al-Qbaiyat to Marjaayoun attended the two trainings and actively took part in the field exercises. Four follow up test walks will take place during the months of August and September 2007 to allow the trained guides to learn by guiding real trips on the Lebanon Mountain Trail.
