The First Regional Thru-Walks on the Lebanon Mountain Trail (April to June 2007)
Between April 20 and June 5, ECODIT planned, organized and completed the first thru-walk of the LMT in four parts. In total, 63 people participated in those regional walks including professional hikers, LMT Association members, local guides, NGOs, Tour operators, travel journalists and ECODIT staff. The walks demonstrated that the LMT is a functional and safe walking trail and enhanced the image of Lebanon as a tourist destination. During the walk, the participants tested and verified the draft guidebook and sectional maps; tour operators became more acquainted with the 26 trail sections of the LMT, and local guides enjoyed the opportunity to become more engaged in trips on the LMT.
